Offered by Hemming’s Auction ..current bid at $2,600.
Known by the name “Fahrschulmodell” (German for “driving school model”), this reportedly rare and complete cutaway drivetrain model was built in the former East Germany by Hema and developed with instruction in mind. It dates to the early-Sixties and was made for driving schools, where it was used to teach student drivers about the theory and operation of a vehicle’s mechanical systems. This surviving example features a manual gearbox and four-wheel drive, all of which are operational and electrically driven. “Finding a complete and fully operational Hema engine and four-wheel drive drivetrain model is nearly impossible,” says the seller, who adds the model is “incredibly detailed” and in very good condition.
