Re: Shopping for Crossfire SRT
Could be from impact. My first XF had perfect paint along with several Mercedes over the years but my last SRT6 was black with 120k miles had peeling paint and the "6" that got away last week in Clarksville Tn was Graphite and it had peeling clearcoat mostly on the drivers side, it had 115k miles and had came from Fla. The sun, acid rain something got to it. It looks very similar to the Dodge's back in the day and had read they used water base paint in attempts to save the earth, one paint job at a time.
Truth of the matter is these cars like any that are coming up on 20 years young are going to have issues. The interior plastic in these cars get brittle, you see it in sagging glove box doors and the area around the light switch often. If you find the garage kept never driven XF's with 35k miles you pay dearly. I buy the deals, regardless. My first XF was a NA car with new tires, aftermarket wheels and all the known issues in the cars. The one that sealed the deal was the non working blower fan cause I got it from a uniformed officer and it was a hot August day. The more I kept talking the hotter we got sitting there, I ended up paying 1600 cash. 75 for the new blower fan.
