I have recently realized there is play in the bearings. Bearing moves slightly inside the pulley. That scares me as I have heard horror stories of pulleys grenadine and breaking apart after experiencing play in the bearing causing a lot of damage.
I do have a scattershield so that should help at least somewhat but if it comes apart at the snout that would be bad news.
I am now wondering if I need to replace the bearing and take my chance with the aluminum pulley or if I need to just replace the pulley all together.
Are there any 65mm pulleys that people had better experience with? I know the polish company had pretty decent reviews but I don't know if they are still around selling their steel pulley.
My other question would be, if I reach it with another 65mm pulley, will I need a re-tuned from Eurocharged or should that not be necessary? If I wouldn't need a re-tuned, does it make a difference if tune was for 64.7MM and new pulley is 65MM?
Amy advice is appreciated!
Nick
I would throw that aluminum pulley as far as I could of a long pier.
The diameter difference is roughly .012 and would make no difference to your tune at all unless the profile was way out of spec. The .012 could be just the tolerance required when making these pulleys.
