I love this forum! I bought my Crossfire 16 years ago last week and joined this forum even earlier. I'm still learning. I had never noticed either the brass fitting or the black cap when I changed my hoses. I had to go look. I don't have either - as mentioned this was a northern climate option. Mine is a South Carolina car. I had never heard of this option. Although searching for "block heater" brings up a post from 2017 and a post from earlier this year. I either missed those posts or forgot about them. I guess that the automobile with the VIN for the Mercedes SLK320 that I used to order my hoses was a southern car or at least didn't have that option since it appears to me that there are two lower hoses instead of one.
