if you’re considering even the remotest possibility of taking this to a Dealer (MB or Chrysler) then you haven’t done nearly enough homework and dug deep enough into the forum. But if that’s an option you’re considering you should follow it then and let us know what you discover. Nothing quite like going to a dealership for advice on a 17 year old car and asking them for constructive input.

Do the reading here and let us know what YOU think you should do. Don’t ask us to tell you.

My $.02, If you have the skill and desire, I would say buy the car and roll up your sleeves. I know from personal experience that an ECU/TCU/ignition switch/drivers door lock tumbler/ glove box and air bag lock cylinder along with at least one key for and SRT can be purchased for $800 or less

If your budget is tight, it will be a lot less expensive just to buy a running driver.

I am curious about the car without an ECU. you would be buying it blind assuming it’s a runner and the only issue is the missing ECU. If someone has “ripped” it out, it’s been removed for a reason. If you’ve never heard it run, it could become an expensive parts car

just my 2 cents.

Wishing you success no matter what path you select. Keep us updated on your decisions. It could be interesting.

Same car just changed hands. The guy ended up ghosting me.. my decision was to mail all the parts to mercedes swap shop.
