Default Re: DIY Oil Change - Over 1 Quart left in the engine?

My 2007 Owner's Manual states to follow the FSS recommended interval for the oil change. It states that the recommended oil change interval is set at 7000 miles at the factory. It also states that the FSS "evaluates engine temperature, oil level, vehicle speed, engine speed, distance driven, and the time elapsed since your last service. It determines when your vehicle needs maintenance service and alerts you in advance. The next necessary service is indicated by the FSS in your instrument cluster. If ANY of the following apply to your driving, the oil change interval can be reduced significantly:

• Day and night temperatures are below 32°F (0°C)
• Stop-and-go driving
• Extensive engine idling
• Driving in dusty conditions
• Short trips of less than 10 miles (16 km)
• More than 50% of your driving is at sustained high speeds during hot weather, above 90°F (32°C)
• Taxi, Police, or delivery service (commercial service."

I typically drive 1000-1500 miles per year. Based on this, I change the oil in my 2007 every 2 years. I have had the FSS indicate to me 1x during ownership that an oil change was needed, based on my driving habits, so maybe the onboard analytics within the FSS do function properly - at least that's my position on this. And I'm confident that my 2007 Coupe's engine is properly maintained and in excellent running condition. I'm not sure I could ever let the car go the entire 7000 miles before performing an oil change. With my driving habits, that would mean an oil change every 6-7 years! I just wasn't brought up that way!
