Take a look at the pic in my post. Not sure what you mean by bent upward but mine is at a 90 degree angle from the base of the shifter assembly and from looking at my other Crossfires, that is how it should be. So I don't know about "bent upward" but it should be perpendicular to the base of the shifter housing. You can see it clearly in my pic.
