This threw me for a loop also, I thought the light was indicating low coolant when the light only indicates a problem with the cooling system. It turned out to be the fan would sometimes stall out, which would also prevent the air conditioning evaporator from getting airflow making the air conditioning lukewarm. I recommend checking your radiator fan to see if it is spinning.
