I just installed a set of Akebono pads in the rear. After bedding in the brakes there is still a squeal. But it has been reduced by 80-90%. So I'll run with them for now and we'll see if there's any further improvement. If not, I might still look into converting to SRT6 brakes.
Until you mentioned it I never realized that the rear brakes on the SRT6 were vented.
Tell me if I get anything below incorrect, as I'm going off of memory here.
1) You installed new rear discs & pads and the squealing began. (Power Stop, I think)
2) You replaced the pads and the squeal diminished by 80-90%
If that's correct then the only other component I'd suspect of causing the squeal is the discs. Make sense?
I think both the discs & calipers on the Crossfire are Brembo parts, someone correct me if I'm wrong. If so and you take the "stock" route in replacing your discs that's what I'd buy
as you know they didn't squeal.
