It 100% was not working like this. I've been driving sports cars since I was a teen and i'm pushing 50 had many paddle shifters and something wasn't right. If I didn't hold the **** to the left it automatically went back to D and upshifted. If I held the **** left it stayed in gear and if I tried to somehow 'keep it in the middle' because it was not centered it appeared to work somewhat correctly but it was difficult to do that.

It appeared that if i just tapped it to the left and it stayed in gear and i tapped to the right to go up that is how it should have worked but was not the case. I had both the owner and sales manager say neither of them ever use Manual mode so they couldn't verify it but finally the sales manager after several drives admitted it is both not centered and something didn't seem right. He also said something in the 'shifter' had been worked on recently.
