This happened once to me when I first bought my Crossfire. It was me being an idiot.
I had a manual transmission Pontiac Fiero for 27 years before moving up to Crossfire.
On Fiero I always pulled shifter back and to the left in order to go from first to second gear.
Cable actuation made it a sloppy gear shift even when adjusted properly.
Old habits die hard so I did this once with Crossfire and must have pulled or tapped it enough to stay in first.
Would not shift up. Panic as engine revved as we went super slow in same gear.
Got brain together after a moment and tapped shift lever into higher gears.
Now when starting out I always check for the D for drive in instrument cluster before heading off.
