Re: Windshield Trim Repair/Replacement
Now that I have neglected to repair the windshield trim, I was driving on the freeway when it peeled off and was hanging on by my rearview mirror so had to pull over. I ended up pulling the whole trim off with minimal damage. It appears that it is held with double-sided tape that has worn out; all the clips seem intact so I might not have to replace anything. Am I able to use any double-sided tape or can I use some epoxy for a better bond? What I'm worried about is that not using the proper adhesive will cause the clips to connect imperfectly leading to the same problem in the future, I'll also have to scrub the clips clean of the old glue. I'm also concerned about environmental damage since I can't repair this quickly since I'm away from home and I'm trying to limit my driving as much as I can. One more thing, if you did take the trim off and repainted it, can you tell me which paint you used along with your car's primary color? A paint code would be preferred, it seems that my trim was also taken off and repainted at some point in the car's lifetime. Ideally, I'd want to use the stock paint color the manufacturing plant used which is some light grey and my car's primary color is Blaze Red. Not sure if every crossfire manufactured uses the same trim paint color, but I've never seen one without a grey trim.
