Sometimes when the two NiMH batteries in the alarm/siren start to leak and corrode due to age, the acid can cause havoc on the board with all the electronics on it. When this has happened all types of malfunctions occur with the lights flashing or not flashing or sometimes the audible alarm goes off at random.
