Top inoperable - module?
Hello, as you may know I have been chasing my power top issue for a while now and am leaning towards the Power Top Control Module at this point.
I have read many posts in the various sub-forums here and watched the videos from Top and others here about it. I cannot see anything wrong anywhere so am proceeding now with a strong suspicion that I have a failed module but first wanted to ask you about it.
The symptoms are always the same - when the DLink is released and the top pushed back a bit the windows both drop and the top switch on the console goes to steady red. At this point the divider is in the correct spot and all other visible clues are OK.
I press the top switch - and is starts to blink, one second intervals, with a warning beep coming from behind the instrument cluster somewhere about one second intervals, and nothing else. No pump starting, no mechanism turning...nothing else besides the blinking light and the warning sound. This lasts as long as I hold the switch down and stops when I let go of it, and returns to a steady red light, which goes away after reattaching the top and DRing. The same holds true if I manually put the top down and try to raise it, same light and warning sound in the same way.
Since the pump is not trying to run and since the trunk latch mechanism is not reacting I am looking at the thought that the module may have failed and that is why nothing else is happening. There is no water damage or rat-chewed wiring anywhere that I can see.
The trunk latch also is non-reactive. I have tried it with the trunk latched and unlatched - floppy handle and rigid handle - with the same results.
Based on this, do you think the module may be at the heart of this failure? Thank you for any input and hope you have a great New Year.
