But verifying the door switches is simple but not quite "EASY".
Tear the trim from the trunk.
Get to the CLP/SSM module on the passenger side.
Check the voltages at the pins I point to - voltage should change from 'high" (5 to 13 volts) with door open to "low" (about 0 to .1 volt) with door closed.
If you see corrosion and water intrusion on the connectors, replace the CLP/SSM and the last 2-3 feet of wiring harness, do not try to clean or "fix" the old wiring harness or pins. CLP/SSMs are available from "Parts Cars" for $75-150. Do not buy one on eBay, there are many parts cars around, we/I can direct you to one if this goes that far.
Perhaps verify that fuse is OK.
The service manual (which you can download from this forum) has the diagrams and connector pin layout in the wiring chapter.
This problem has been posted before and the issue solved at that time.
It was good to see the OP found out the cause, solved it himself and then posted the answer.
The part number will be on the back. It will also be in the parts lists of all the model years that I posted over fifteen years ago which most people do not know exist.
The Electronic parts list I also posted no longer works.
My post titled ‘Index of Crossfire Problems and Repairs’ is getting to contain obsolete information and should be updated, I just cannot be patient enough to do it.☹️
