My rear license plate screws were a little loose when I bought my car. I went to the local hardware store and got a little bit wider screws. I am using a plastic plate frame and only have the top screws fastened. The screws I used are almost an inch long, I was also worried about hitting something, so I put an 1.5 inch deck screw in the hole and didn't hit anything. They seem to be holding up well.
