As posted my problem was related to the highbeam flash function not working. I replaced the stick slector with a new unit. I also found a YouTube video made by Paul after installing the new unit. Maybe your problem is directly related to nothing more then dirt & contact corrosion. It is possible connections have a borderline level of corrosion and once the unit has expanded they begin to function.
