I mount the 8500 just under the Rearview Mirrow, haven't checked what it look from outside the car. I have dark tint on my windows and an "eyebraw," about a 4 " tint strip- (Dark-Limo Tint) on the windshield.
Detector has to be place high up on the windshield for rear detection.
