I have the original rims that the previous owner had chromed. I have two rims that are leaking some, so…

1) Are the original rims aluminum?
2) if I have them welled, will I have to replace the TPMS sensors on those tires?

Please let me know if there’s anything else to consider. I have a friend that can weld aluminum, which is apparently different than welding other metals.
