Default Re: S/C pulley disintegrated! Is this a thing?

When these after market pulleys came onto the scene I predicted they would fail, they came from quick buck artists without any engineering thought given to them, they made them smaller and smaller using the same bearing. Finally someone used a smaller bearing, then came aluminum ones they failed faster. The dog bones were not made of spring steel so the gap was hard to set, with all the flexing the dog bones fractured. Riveting was another weak point especially in the aluminum ones. People ignored or pooh poohed me and kept buying when they grenaded some caused more costly to repair than the pulley itself cost.
Look for the original makers, can you see them?
There is the one from Germany that seems OK.
The OEM pulleys will fail at some point, some have already but it is normal that some will fail early. Most will fail at some point possibly not in our lifetime, mine anyway.
