Default Re: Downfall of the headliner

Update on my headliner. Headliner was redone by the local shop and I have reinstalled it. It actually easier than I thought it would be. The most difficult thing was getting the push pins to line up on the back upper trim pieces.

Not having much luck finding the plastic trim pieces so I played around with different glues and ended up using this:

Straight cyanacrylate doesn’t work but when you drip it on the q-bond powder it works great. I fit a piece then put little clamps to hold them as close and even as possible, put blue tape on the outside surface, poured a line of the powder over sections of the crack then dripped the cyanacrylate on it. It hardens instantly. The I remove the clamps and repeat on the rest of the crack. On the first part I had a bigger gap showing on the outside surface than I liked so I filled it with powder and glue. The second one I did looked much better, I didn’t need to fill on the surface. Here are some pics:

The one on the right is the second one I did. Practice certainly helps. You can see I had to redrill the screw hole on the right one as well. These feel very strong, I think they will hold up for awhile. Now I just need to find a couple screws and it will be done. I’ll post a pic of the finished headliner when it’s done.
