Default CLP/SSM Success or Misadventure

1) I locked doors with remote before going into store. Came out and remote would not unlock the door. I used the key to unlock the door and went home.
2) When I got home, I tried the remote again. The door locked but would not unlock. Grabbed my spare remote and door locked but would not unlock.
3) Two days later I tried to lock the car and the remote would not lock or unlock the doors. Tried the spare remote it would not lock or unlock the car. I also noticed the car lights were not flashing when I pressed the remote.
At this point I tried the dash switch, and it was not functioning.
4) Pulled the carpet out and everything was dry and no evidence of water. Removed the CLP and checked all pins which were perfect condition. Reconnected CLP no change in condition.
5) Checked fuse 9 looked good but I changed it anyways. NO change in condition.
6) Removed cowl and disconnected alarm. Manufacture date of 09 June 2004. No change in condition.
7) Later I happened to be walking by the batteries at Walmart so bought two.
8) Put batteries in remote the doors would lock and unlock with flashing lights. Dash switch would not lock or unlock the doors.
9) Changed the batteries over to spare remote the doors would lock and unlock. At this point the dash switch started locking and unlocking doors.
10) Put things back together and tried to shut the trunk. Trunk did not close completely but would not unlock.
11) Removed left license light and moved locking cam. Trunk popped open. Closed trunk again and it worked correctly.

My takeaways from this are.
1) Always replace batteries before digging into system. I had other symptoms that made it appear to me that the batteries were good. I should mention the red light on my remotes do not work.
2) I believe all of the opening and closing of the locking system with the trunk open moved the cam out of position.
3) As far as the dash switch goes, I am at a loss for what's going on with it.
4) I have to look at this as a learning experience. Instead of you Dumb XXX why didn't you change the batteries first thing!
