When I was having my windshield replaced, I preferred to remove the surround trim myself for two reasons.
First, I wanted to learn how to do it because I enjoy working on my car.
Second, I was worried that the windshield technician might break the trim, or not reattach it well enough and the center piece might fly off at high speed.
