Default Re: Gas in the Charcoal Canister

Latest updates. I tried to put gas into my car over the weekend so GF and I could attend a July 4th party. Alas, the gas tank refused to take and gas and was closed off by check valve. My fuel tank indicated showed at a qtr tank. So Saturday night we just drove around with the top down enjoying the cooling air just to burn the gas down. We finished with frozen confections at Sonic.

I need to get a camera down the neck and take some pictures. I will have to remove my EVAP canister and drain all the gas out. What a mess. Here is a schematic of the Evaporation control system and fuel lines.

Why can't I fill up with gas?
High pressure in the tank closing the fuel filler check valve. (Second picture item 4) This is a strong possibility as gas in the canister is blocking vapor flow.

So what is causing the fuel to get into the canister?
Possibilities:
1) Over fueling. I consider this unlikely as there are systems in place. (Second picture item 1) The tank are rollover valves close when the tank is near full.
2) The fuel filter is damaged causing gas to go into the canister. (First picture item 7)
3) The purge valve is sucking gas into the canister (First picture item 11). This could only work if the rollover valves are open.

Any ideas or suggestions will be welcome.
