I think there is two problems 1) There is gas in the charcoal canister. 2) I can't fuel up the car as the neck fills up fast and shuts off the pump.
I suspect the problems are closely related. I can see how a loaded charcoal canister can kill the car from running as it sucks gas from the canister. I don't see how the gas got into the canister in the first place. I am putting a plan together to remove all the gas from the car and dismantle everything. From there I should be able to get a better idea of the issues.
Have you tried asking Rob at Needswings.com or Josh or James at the Mercedesswapshop.com ? Maybe try sending an email out to them and see if they come back with something.
Maybe they have run into this situation before.
Also, remember if you're going to remove the gas, or drop the tank, the vapors are what you have to worry about as far as fire risk. My opinion, would be once you drain the gas let it sit for at least a day and air out.
