The Official "Machine Gray" C-R-O-S-S-F-I-R-E Photo Thread
re: The Official "Machine Gray" CROSSFIRE Photo Thread
Shortly after getting back home, I went out and cleaned the front bumper of all contaminants from the road trip. Applied some "Quik Wax" to spruce it up.

Great find and sharp looking XFire!! Since it's a 2004 model, the color is actually Graphite Gray, which was available on 2004 & 2005 model years and then discontinued. Color was changed to Machine Gray (bluish tint) for 2006 thru 2008 models.

Thanks, that's good to know. Something I read initially somewhere referred to it as metallic gray, but who knows what that source was. I originally was looking at a silver 05, but now like this color much better. I like the pure graphite color better without the blue tint but actually, they all look good.

VIN:
1C3APE9L66X063246
After we purchased the car recently we contacted the Chrysler dealer who supplied the car from new (here in the UK) to get the paint code and they stated the colour as "machine gray clear coat" and a colour code as "P17"
Perhaps some xfire experts might be able to deduce from the photos in my forum album what they think my xfire colour is?
Re: The Official "Machine Gray" C-R-O-S-S-F-I-R-E Photo Thread
So now I'm confused, my car is a 2005 model yet, as far as I thought it's colour is "Machine Gray".

Machine Gray might have been offered in Europe/UK during 2005. Or your car might be unique in that it was painted the new gray color and was produced near the end of the 2005 production run. Look on VIN decal and see when it was produced.

Your Crossfire is a 2006 model, not 2005! Your VIN# identifies it as a 2006, since the 6X before the last six numbers of the VIN# is the last digit of the manufacturing date/year. That is the proof the Machine Gray is the colour!

Hello,
Is there a link or could someone help me figure out how to attach a photo to my reply. Trying to add my machine gray roadster to your pics but can't figure it out. I go to advanced, attach the pic from my photo library, but can't seem to return to the message box without losing everything. I'm using an iPad. Kind of embarrassing but I have seemed to exhaust my options.

I upload the photo to one of my photo albums. Then I open the photo in the album. At the bottom of the page it will have a url to the photo. Copy that, then past it into your post when you hit the "insert image" button (yellow square with mountains)

As you can see the date of UK registration is very close to the end of 2005 so I guess it's quite possible that the car has a 2006 specification.
This is great news here in the UK as "Road Tax", an annual tax to drive on UK roads increased significantly on 2006 cars. As mine is registered in 2005 I pay the lower amount yet have the 2006 car, Cool!
BTW - which site did you use to do the vin lookup?
On one site I did get this back "Vehicle Build Date: 2005/9/2" with "Model Year: 2006"
I also noticed "Sequential number: 063246", I'm assuming this is the incremental serial number for cars coming off the assembly line, would this be all Chryslers or just Crossfires?
Also is there a master list held somewhere like on this forum?

Thanks Dennis. So it appears my xfire is a 2006 model however it was built in 2005 and first registered in the UK (DVLA logbook) 30/12/2005.

Several ways to get the job done.
Hope this helps,
