Crossfire was the honeymoon child of a starcrossed marriage
The 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T Hemi Convertible feels to me like the Crossfire SRT6 Roadster. It wasn't well known at the time and sold few units. It was expensive for the time and didn't have the cachet of the z28s, 302 boss mustangs, H/O Olds, GTO Judge etc etc. So this car that nobody really seemed to care about at the time is now going for over $100,000. Yes, I did cherry pick this one :-)

oh - and 68 Super Bees which were very much a "super what?" also-ran in the muscle car marketing wars at the time are going for high 5, low 6 figures.
Yup! And were there any others?
I have driven both, I think the Crossfire has a sports car feel as opposed to the Merc with a softer less sporty feel. Could be just the tire size though. That sportier feel is what drew me to it even more than it's great lines.

Each owner looks at it from their own perspective, here's mine. The car would probably not have seen the light of day if the original SLK platform was not used. It naturally follows that MB drive trains were the only way that Mercedes was willing to sign off on the project. To me my car is a Chrysler just as the concept was a Chrysler. It seems to me that by denying that you also deny the untold man hours that the Chrysler team put into the car. Tell the Chrysler R+D team or the design team that their contributions didn't matter. Let's also not forget the contributions that Karmann had in actually building the car. In the end it's the unique story of how the Crossfire came to be. The small sign I display at car shows reads "Designed by Chrysler, Powered by Mercedes, Built by Karmann".

Sounds similar to my calling it a custom coach built Mercedes with a Chrysler badge thrown on it.
