I had the Michelin PS2's on my car (for a year and a half) and just switched over to the Hankooks. I kept the same size (stock) on the front and went from 255/35 to 285/35 on the rear.

I must say, I regret ever having the Michelins! The Hankook holds the pavement better, looks better, is a softer ride, and I rarely break the rear end into a drift since getting the Hankooks! Much better tire, and I realize some difference is the increased width, but not all the improvement. I hear a lot of good about the Generals, but I am so happy with Hankooks, that I will probably never try the Generals to compare! But, I do not recommend the Michelins.

 

Nice to know. My Mercedes needs new skins.

My Favorite Tires - Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110

My first set gave me 30,000 miles of perfect even tread wear, ran quiet the entire time and I ran the rears well past the tread bars and then bought another set of the same tires again.
Both sets I also got the slightly larger rear tires using the 285/35 19
Good Choice IMO but others here are not as happy with them
There are definitely a lot of tires out there to choose from but for the price and performance I prefer these
Although I don't drive an SRT...
I do consider myself an aggressive driver for the most part and I was even surprised to get the amount of miles I did from these.




Went with the 285/35/19 on the rears........about an inch taller and an inch wider with no rubbing issues

 

Trust me just don't put them on the SRT6. They were ok when new but after 8,000-10,000 miles the traction and braking sucked.

 

What about noise? Do they start to "howl" as the tread wears?

 

They only had about 10,000 miles on them when I replaced them with Michelins so noise level wasn't bad.

 

How do you like the Michelin's....?

 

VALK, I remember that post very well. Came across it when trying to decide on new tires. Bought a set from tire rack based on your post and have never regretted the decision. Several years later they are still on the car and still performing & looking good. THANKS Valk.

 

I have learned that any brand of new tire on a car will feel great. It's after about 10,000 miles when their true colors come out.


I just installed Kuhmos simply for price. Ride and noise are greatly improved over the Michelins, but then the Michelins felt the same way when new.

 

I don't have much positive to say about my Michelins... They grip dry pavement well? Other than that they're loud, wearing poorly, unpredictable in the rain and worthless in snow, even after considering they're all season tires...

I guess we will choose something today while shopping. Has michelins on it now. 55k and a little tread left. Even worn out they did fine thru the winter. But it is a 4-matic. I will put all seasons on it. It's the wife's ride not mine. We shall see. Thanks.

 

Thanks to Sandy for the post regarding the Hankooks. When I looked on the Tire Rack website and compared the ride quality and noise ratings for the Hankooks compared to the Michelin Pilot SS, I was surprised at how much better the Hankooks were rated for those two categories.

Looks like Hankooks will be my next set of tires!

Sorry, I never saw your post, Valk. Could have saved me a lot of time and money. My Michelins weren't as quiet, nor grippy even when new. Interesting that the SRT prefers the Michelin to the Hankook! Assuming the Hankook wears well, I'm going to get Hankooks from now on. Also like the view from the rear: wider and better tread design (to me).

 

I think all tires perform badly just before hitting the wear bars. Will be putting another set of Michelins Super Sports on back. 305/30/19 on stock SRT-6 wheels without any rubs. Squirrel Crusher

 

I searched for tires that were quieter and a better ride. I followed the reviews on this forum about Hankook tires and liked what I read. I've been very happy with them compared to the Michelin tires of which I had 16,000 miles which were loud and a hard ride. I recommend Hankook.

 

To the original post, I am one of the people with Generals. I now have 14k on these tires, and am still singing their praises.

I'm on my second full set after getting about 42,000 on the original ones. Quiet, sticky and even wearing, and with twice the tread rating as the Hankooks for the same price!
