Default Chrysler Crossfire - The misadventure

Just had a good laugh reading this article. Even our forum gets mentioned briefly (in the last part of the trouble-shooting). Article shouldn't be taken too seriously, but still a good read!

you have to have patience to own a XF...... I don't agree much with his assessment, but maybe he expected more for 16k used car.....that he knew had problems.... I would expect it would out perform anything he had owned before, especially a Miata.... You know handling is one thing, but power and speed can make up for it....lol

I'd be more interested in seeing how a person of his size (mentioned in the article) gets in and out of a coupe...

ps at least the forum mention was praise.

He likes to 'create' his own drama to make a story. Basically it is a one sided story - DRAMA. Authors of his kind irritate me regardless of any car brand they speak of.

All the negative jargon (or should I say "garbage"),listed in this article is a matter of conjecture... the writer is probably a pseudo journalist , looking for a job?...and knows nothing about the aesthetic properties (including functional), of a car... IMHO...Carl

I agree with everything you guys have said. The owner of the car fails to realize several things:

1) For the price you are getting a high quality vehicle made by Mercedes with an engine that has been around for some time and therefore most of the little bugs and kremlins have long been found and removed before the first Crossfire ever left Karmann's assembly line.

2) You really need to feel this car. Some people hate the way it looks but for the most part you receive nothing but positive comments, stares and praise. It's a looker for sure! At the same time, I have yet to see a sports car in the same price range that has the same stunning shape with all its curves, lines and sleek design. To me, it beats even the looks of most high end sports cars.

3) If you want to drive something that is relatively reliable and not everyone pulls up in at the next red light, this might just be your vehicle.

4) It is shocking to me how many people fail to come on this forum FIRST before anything else. This place has saved me hundreds if not thousands of dollars as I bet you little issues such as the P0410 error code due to a bad joint on the RCM would be close to $2000 at the dealership as they would probably replace a few more things in the process.

I find it hard to take people seriously who badmouth the Xfire but then praise the Miata (not that the Miata is a bad car but you get the idea)

There's room for only one dead hooker in the trunk but, even a chubby one would fit. That's the best line in the whole article.

It was a funny read. I felt he was a jerk from the beginning, but did start to feel sorry for him as his troubles continued. A little common sense, reading this forum, and negotiation skills (with the dealership) would have saved him a lot of grief, but made for a boring story. No argument that you either love the shape and shortcomings of the XF or you hate it. But most of our members have been onboard since the mid-2000s so we be the lovers. I, too, had the dreaded intercooler problem but armed with a couple write-ups from this forum, my dealer took care of it on the same visit. Other than shift linkage adjustment (roadster), replacing a popped-out plenum plug, and new tires, the cars have generally been faultless.
