Default Liftmaster 8500 and Homelink

New Garage build with Liftmaster 8500 Side mount opener.
I have read numerous posts on getting the Homelink in the Crossfire to talk to the opener but have had no luck to date.

Does anyone have any tips to get it to work?

Thanks

I just had a new liftmaster door opener installed at my house yesterday
I was told and I also read that a new liftmaster can not be programmed with any model vehicle older than 2012

I believe that to be true because my 18 year old liftmaster door opener did program to my Crossfire
I was informed of this by the company I purchased it from in advance
The same company that has provided me service for 18 years

If your garage door opener has the yellow antenna wire, you need to get the Liftmaster compatibility bridge to get it to work with Homelink. About $30 at Amazon.com.

Crazy that a new garage door opener doesn't work natively with a new Homelink system.

I had no idea they were making any provision for the older Homelinks.

Post of the day, sir!

It only took me about 2 hours of failed programming before I found the solution on-line.

I had the same problem. The old opener worked with homelink. Changed to a new liftmaster and it would not.

Went to a local garage door distributor/installer and explained my issue. In 30 seconds there was a box on the counter with a plug in repeater and new remote

You plug in the repeater and press the learn button on the door opener then you can use the new remote to operate the door. You use the new remote to program the home link.

Our cars are not the only cars affected. All older models are impacted. Every garage door specialist will know exactly what you need.

Buy one local and get it same day. With peace of mind that it will work.
