I've had my manual 2004 Crossfire for 11 years and I am not aware of any light lighting up when it is time to shift.

Seems the indicator is controlled by the gear shifter, has it got wet any time lately?

There may be a wire coming from it as well, maybe that is loose.

No, I think the gear the car is in comes to the instrument cluster via the CAN bus, remember, you can up/down shift the car and the display changes.

Others have fixed it by changing the gear shifter after spilling drinks on theirs and the LCD was just s black square.
when he says light up does he mean light up with s bulb?In which case the bulb close to it is out.
