Default 2005 Roadster Problems Starting: P0171 & P0174

Hey guys! Recently I picked up a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster. Has 69,000 miles on the odometer, runs great, top functions, I'm in love with the car.

I'm having issues starting, however. Check engine light is on, throwing codes P0171 and P0174. The car cranks for sometime maybe 3-8 seconds, but it turns over and the engine starts eventually. Once it starts it stays running and drives fine. Only one time did the car fail to start.

A mechanic friend has told me it's the fuel pump, and Autozone told me it's the O2 sensor, which I doubt. I've searched the forums and read the likely scenarios as either: the fuel pump, MAF sensor needs cleaned/replaced, or it's the Cam/Crankshaft Position sensor.

I'm going to try cleaning the MAF sensor tomorrow. I don't have access to a lot of tools to do things myself, but I'm super hands on and actually find this kind of stuff fun. I'd like to attempt things on my own within my ability before going to a shop.

Any other suggestions or ideas as to what it may be? Thanks in advance guys

Sure sounds like no fuel pressure, check the Schrader valve on the fuel manifold. Just after you turn the key on, push in the pin with your fingernail and see if you have any fuel pressure you should have about 50lbs.

When I turn the key on and press on the valve nothing happens, you can hear the fuel pump do something when the key is turned to on, but pushing on the valve no pressure is released.

fuel pump running and no pressure :
1. bad fuel pump
2. clogged filter
3. crimped/ruptured fuel line
4. no fuel in tank

The tank was just filled two days ago, so that's solid. Once it turns over it starts, and I've been able to drive anywhere. Could something still be crimped or ruptured with the engine running? There's no smell of gas coming from the car anywhere, we don't think it's a rupture. We have been leaning more and more towards the fuel pump and filter. I may run to an autoparts store and replace it myself today
