Default Codes: B1003, B10F6 plus airbag icon

2007 Crossfire with 44k miles, owned since 2008 and 12k miles. Airbag icon lit on left instrument display. No codes via ODB2, but indie mechanic scanned and showed B1003 and B10F6. Could not clear. Codes indicate that passenger airbag system is not setting properly yet speed sensors and wiring seemed good. Icon does not go off when flipping airbag override key (on the dash inside the passenger door) between "on" and "off". The airbags in this car were replaced under the Takata recall about three years ago but this problem just developed. The battery is new as of June.

I'm open to any ideas and am holding off bringing this to the dealer for obvious reasons, as well as distance.

If no suggestions, the car comes off the road next month and I will pull the battery for the winter. Maybe that will reset whatever ails it.
