Securing car cover
I'm sure I'm not the first one to think of it, but being retired it's a little hard to fork out what's required to purchase the crossfire cover so I purchased a one size fits all small lined waterproof one ($44). The only issue I had was how to secure it with as little effort and cost as possible, so off to Home Depot. Purchased 50ft of (I believe) 3/8"plastic(or whatever it's made of) rope, (3) - 1/2" inline PVC shut off valves & (1)-10' section of 1/2" PVC pipe.
1. Cut PVC pipe to make one 7' section & attach one 1/2" valve to end of pipe.
2. Burn or tape end of rope to keep from fraying
3. Cut of app. 2ft more rope than needed to reach side grommet to side grommet, tie knot in rope & thread through either grommet.
5. Attach other end of rope to 1/2" PVC valve attached to PVC pole, close valve to temporarily hold rope in place, slide pole under car to opposite grommet.
6. Open valve to release rope, thread rope through grommet & 2nd PVC valve tighten & close valve.
7. Same basic operation front to back just takes 2 diagainal passes to get to back of the car.
complete tie down without ever touching the ground. It takes about one minute or so to secure cover, took about 10 minutes to explain it. Cost less then $20 (if I can get someone to buy the extra rope)
If this has been done before, or doesn't make sense, bear with me I'm a newbie.
