Hi all,
I'm trying to help out another Crossfire owner. He's looking for a"Damping Container" or "Damping Cage". The part number is 170-470-03-16. It doesn't have to be new, if anyone has a good used one that would be ok.
Needswings had them but they're sold out.
It's the part that the yellow arrow is pointing to. Thanks for any help.
From the diagram in the parts catalog in the sticky, it looks like 05099403AA to me as the chrysler part number, might be easier to find if you can locate the mercedes part number for it. Odds are the part is shared with other mercedes of this era if you pop into any junkyards they may have one even if they don't have any crossfires.
Thanks, I already have the M-B part number, the part number is 170-470-03-16.
Ok what is it and why do you think it's broken? My own brief search says it's to reduce the pulsing of the fuel delivery.
Hi, it's not for me it's for another Crossfire owner. His is so rusted that when he touches it, pieces of rust flake off. He's worried that that the fuel pressure will eventually cause it to leak or break.
I haven't had any luck finding one through M-B or online. So I was hoping someone had a spare or was parting a car out.
If you guys would just look in the correct place, you would find it easily, no extensive searches!

ZERACER Not noted on the Needswings website as "out of stock", only reason I mentioned it and is a reliable supplier to our forum members.... Dennis

That was the first place I looked. I had originally thought about buying that part from him when I was replacing my fuel pump. Rob said on fakebook that his supply was exhausted.
To anyone who finds this post, I want to direct them to the solution. The short answer is that Subaru p/n 42086FE000 works as a direct replacement for the OEM Mercedes fuel damper (p/n A1704700316). I've written up someting here: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...tml#post999536
I very much appreciate M60A3Driver starting this thread initially to try and assist me.

I went the salvarge yard route first. However, I found several places asking £75 for a used damper, which was preposterous. This part seems to be prone to rusting, so I really didn't want to chance it with another used part, even if it was cheaper than the new part. As it was not, and as the Subaru part is brnad new and works perfectly, this seems like a much better route for anyone looking to replace their damper.
