Cars are often categorized by how their owners use and maintain them, leading to specific enthusiast terms like "daily driver," "garage queen," and "weekend warrior"
These classifications describe the car's purpose:
Daily driver- self explanatory.
Garage queen - A car that is primarily stored and rarely driven, reserved for special occasions, shows, or minimal recreational use.
Weekend warrior - A car used for recreation and adventure on weekends,
How many miles do you put on your Crossfire per year and what 'category" does your shiny toy belong??
Each year mine is driven less. Mine now falls between Garage Queen and Museum Piece ! I only put 237 miles on the odometer in the past twelve months. The year before that 333 miles.
All maintenance is done regardless of the miles incurred. Annual oil change, etc. Most sports cars average 1 -2 K per year. (My average was generally 1500-2000)
Average about 7000 miles per year based on the miles I have driven it since I bought it
Mostly driven from March thru November but not a daily driver as I'm retired and don't have a daily drive routine
I attend several Crossfire events each year:
Athens, Ohio - The Ozarks (Branson and Eureka Springs) - Michigan for the Woodward Dream Cruise
The rest of my miles are just occasional driving out west from my house on the open country roads whenever I feel like a cruise.
Typically these cruises are 100 miles or more
Retirement is good and I enjoy the Crossfire as part of it
I basically spend more time cleaning/detailing it than driving the car. But again, it's a rare shiny toy that provides pride of ownership. It's like a piece of art. You look at it, you admire it and you respect it.
64k miles on a purchased-new roadster, so ~3k/year. In reality, the last ten summers have been 800-1200 miles.
44k miles on a used-SRT6 so ~2k/year (it had 8k on it when purchased in 2008). In reality, the last ten summers have also been 800-1200 miles.
I have done 41,000 kms in mine since I bought it about 2.5 years ago, Its a daily driver that I use for going to work and almost everything else.
I owned a N/A Coupe I used to only take out only on the weekends and mainly just looked at. Then, an opportunity presented itself to purchase an immaculate SRT-6 convertible w/25,000 miles. I purchased the Roadster, sold my Coupe and been using it as a daily driver ever since. I drive 30 miles to work, there and back.
After all, it is a car, a machine, an object that should bring great fun. I did not purchase this vehicle as an investment, thinking if I only keep it low mileage, it will eventually go up in price and I'll sell it for a profit. I bough this ride because I'm a fan, a fanatic, a Crossfire lover and an enthusiast.
It does not mean, I don't baby it. Washing, claybaring, waxing/ceramic coating it are my therapy. I keep it in the best shape I can, inside and out. The leather gets conditioned every three months and I clean/condition the Alcantara with Sonax regularly. And yet, I will get the occasional rock-chip on the highway. There might be a scratch I didn't notice the day before I will proudly buff out.
But mainly, driving the car daily is a lifestyle...and it's a lifestyle filled with fun and grins. My car still looks like new inside and out (maybe minus 4 touched up rock-chips on the hood and one on the silver window surround I will soon touch up). What owning this car is about for me is the excitement when I get in. The snug, but comfortable feeling when I sit in the bucket seats that hug me like a backpack. The sound of the engine first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening. The adrenaline, combined with the supercharger whine when I do a few pulls on the highway. The attention it gets at the gas station, parking garage, restaurants.
THAT is what owning a car is all about for me. Yes, I could walk out in to the garage and look at it, low mileage, barely driven, polished every Saturday....but why? These are machines....these are sports cars.....an animal that needs to get out of its cage and sprint in the wilderness. To each its own, but I bought a car to have the most fun I can possibly have in it and luckily it's one that is known for allowing the fun factor for hundreds of thousands of miles.
Don't let it rot away under a cover in the garage and just look at it when you change the oil. Release the beast!
That's enjoyment! And
2005 N/A roadster 6 speed. Purchased June 2014 with 52,457 miles.. Currently at 78,213 so about 2300 miles/year.. Mostly driven close to home in spring and fall and sometimes 1200 mile round trip to visit my father.
Don
2007 Limited Roadster. Bought March, 2023 with 17787 miles. Two days ago it turned 39100 miles, an average of 2348 miles a month making it a daily driver and road trip warrior. These cars love to be driven. Just had the B service performed. Brakes and tires should be ready for replacement perhaps next summer.
One source of healthy mileage are the doctor visits in towns 90 miles and 40 miles away that happen at least twice a month. The part of the world I live in borders the Gila Wilderness, there are mountain curves and straight roads that stretch for miles, so even routine drives can be a feast for the eyes.
After extensive research and biblical math calculations my average annual mileage for the past nine years is 346 miles/yr .
(Last seven yrs 269 miles/yr) Decreasing by 22.25433% - CFK

We purchased our 2005 SRT6 in December of 2023 with 28,000 miles. It now has 40,000 miles. We average 600 miles a month in the car. We drive the car to car shows, lunch, and just long drives. We enjoy the car and purchased it because we wanted a classic, but not a 50's car. We have owned old Caddies, Buicks, Jags, and Mercedes in the past. We wanted a more modern car that we could drive and enjoy. The car is a head turner, and the people we meet always have a story about a friend who had one or that they owned one. I still have not come across another one in my travels, but I am in southern Georgia, so there might not be any around here.
I do have one question. One person I talked to at a show stated that he had one with a sunroof. I have never seen a picture of one. Do they exist?
Guess I'm driving to much. Bought it with 82,000 on it in 2019 started driving it in 2020. I have 149,000 on it now. So am averaging around 11,000 a year.
