Default Exhaust question

I am looking for a louder tone, but am not sure what muffler to go with, just looking for some input. Between flowmaster, and magnaflow, I'm not sure on the series numbers. Thanks for any help.

why don't you try removing the resonators before the muffler. that should make it a tad louder.

Interesting...

When you buy a Borla Kit, they supply you with a new "device" ( ) to replace the factory resonator/cat.

I HIGHLY doubt they would be able to include a new cat WITH the muffler and all that stainless tubing for less than $700. Cats are extremely expensive. Not to mention, most emissions laws (depending on state, of course) dictate that the emissions system (AKA cats) cannot be tampered with before 60,000 miles or significant damage has occurred. If a cat WAS in fact the object which needs to be replaced, Borla would have serious headaches in marketing this kit. The Crossfire setup is already a low-volume seller (compared to a Silverado, LOL) so putting one more hurdle in front of the kit (via CARB certification, lack of LEGAL tampering ability, etc.) is something I see as doubtful, at best.

But it's just a theory. Plus, don't you want cats to be relatively close to the engine, to make the chemical reaction occur more easily due to the gases being in a more excited (read, changeable) state? It seems there would be too much cooling time before the gases reached the rear "apparatus" to allow proper functioning of the cats themselves. If in fact it were a cat.

I vote resonator.

Again, just a speculation.

Hello Folks,

Just picked up a 2006 base model coupe from Wullenweber Motors here in Cincinnati this past weekend. I'm really loving the car, got a terrific deal. I'm looking for a little sportier exhaust sound at low speeds and idle. I'd like a little burble/rumble.

Totally satisfied with the factory system sound as revs build up. I've checked out the Borla/Mopar system for the 2005 but I've got a 2006 and I do NOT have a resonator. My factory exhaust is really simple. Down pipes w/twin high flow cats and "y" pipe then a flange joint. Single pipe around the diff to the muffler w/twin tips. The Borla /Mopar system has a resonator after the "y" pipe. My 2006 DOES NOT HAVE THAT !

Don't really want to ADD another muffler. I'm open for suggestions here. Any 2006 owners out there with modified exhaust ?

Thanks,

Cincinnati Slim
