Default War bonds lighters World war two lighters

Does anyone know if these used to be some kind of war posters or
something? http://www.liangdianup.com/subpages/lighters_c.htm
Were these sayings on these lighters actually used in war times?

I dunno the answer to your question, but they look pretty cool! To bad they are made in china. Something is seriously wrong with that.

Forgive my ignorance, but how much HP and TQ do these add - I thought this was the ENGINE & EXHAUST area???
Ahh, of course - flames, combustion - I suppose there is a tenuous link there!!!

Imitation Zippos ...

Zippo lighters were the most wanted and commonly carried by GIs during the war.

my guess is that these are artists imaginations of something the COULD have been used then, but during the war years, Zippo used steel rather than brass, then dipped the lighter into a black coating meant to inhibit rust ...

as for them being made in China ... no big deal ... if you like these (or any Zippo for that matter) my recommendation would be to toss the inards away and get a Z-Plus butane insert to replace it ... no smelly lighter fluid, no problematic flints ... just gas it up with readily available butane
