Dual XHD7714 receiver opinions
Thinking about picking this receiver up:

Price is right and I have 20 bucks of that. Haven't heard too much about the company Dual, however.
And from what I read on here it looks like I will only have to swap my red and yellow wires. Is that corrrect?

I have never heard a dual headunit, but I'm partial to pioneer. The 6000 that I have wasn't that much more. I have always liked all of their eq adjustments. Actually they are the same price right now! I'd get the poineer6000ub. Once you get used to the controls, you shouldn't be disappointed. And yes the wiring harness has the two wires backwards. the poineer also has a usb, but comes from the rear of the reciever. Good luck with whatever one you get. chris
Dual was originally a German company famous for their turn tables back in the 70's & 80's. They went belly up about ten years ago and were bought by a Korean company, Namsung.
k So I bought a cheap one for my jeep. This is what happened. worked great for six months satisfied with the sound. Then one day the motor quit working 4 like 10min. It came back on and I chalked it up to being cold outside. 2 months after my year warranty the motorfailed, the display went out, and it would switch sources at random. This didnt happen all at once. First the motor, then the display, then the sources about a week later. The radio felt cheap, but it did look good. So i would caution buying it. I cant say that all thier stuff is bad, and to be honest I was satisfied until it broke, but I would say it is a b tier reciever.
I just bought one of these from Crutchfield and installed it in my 2005 Roadster this morning. The installation was medium difficulty mainly becuase you had to bypass the factory pre-amp for all of the speaker wiring. It is easy to do if you are patient and methodical. I made two calls to Crutchfield tech support to ask clarifying questions along the way and they were a great resource.
That said, the unit performs very nicely. The Bluetooth works like a charm, the iPod interface works great, and the sound is much, much better than the factory system! And, I am getting to explore the HD stations in my area.
Enjoy!

I don't know why you'd have to bypass the factory amp?

They are wrong. I ran the new headunit speaker outs directly to the OEM amp and it sounds great.
