Roadster at Mecum... end of January
Roadster at Mecum... end of January
On Tuesday, Jan 24th, there is a 2005 Black roadster (lot #G280) due up for auction in Kissemmee, FL. No picture of car, but is described as :
Black with Black Convertible Top
Black Interior
Nice Clean Car
6-Speed
There is nothing more in info. Does not describe anything else.
I am vacationing in Florida, and plan to attend the Mecum Auction, just to examine this car and see what the action is. Hopefully I will be able to find out more and report. It would be nice to give it a good once over. At least get the vin#. Of course I plan at looking at a lot of other great rides.
Stay tuned .....

Re: Roadster at Mecum... end of January
They have some pictures up on the web site now. It is a base model.
Cloth seats
black trim rings around speakers
and a few other signs of a base model.
Not a bad looking car. If it is a no reserve sale it might sell in the 7k to 8k range. It also depends whether it is a private party or a dealer. The majority of Mecum's cars are bought and sold by collectors and resellers.

I'm not sure if the photography is bad or if the cloth seats just look soiled. Here is the posting on the Mecum/Kissimmee web page.

Re: Roadster at Mecum... end of January
Just got back from Mecum, and had a chance to go over the Crossfire. Man was it rough!
It was a base model that was very dirty amd had an oily residue on the paint. Severe paint spider webs, like it never was buffed out. Car is listed by a dealer in South Carolina. Sparkstoyota.com. Their website states an internet special of $11000. I didn't wait to see the actual auction. That is, if they decide to run it thru or not. actually the way the car shows on the field, I won't run this thru a "local" rural auction. LOL
Vin #1C3AN55L35037164, date of manufacture 7/04, 94000 miles. It does have a newer top with a sewed in window, but don't know if the window heater is attached and working, or not. Both door edges have the paint nicked and scratched. The passenger side of the console has major wear and scratching. The rubber rub rail on the tonneau cover is worn and discolored all along its length. The driver side seat bolster and seat is fraying and worn. Both headlights need buffing and refurbishing, or replacement. There is severe road rash on 3 of the wheels. There appears to be no oil leaking at the heads (which is about the only good thing I can say about it..)
Mecum is not on cable here in Florida, so if it comes up at 8:15PM (EST), and anyone catches the sell price please post. I'm not registered on Mecums site to pick up the auction results, so if it sells, please post. I can't imagine anyone having any interest in this and paying an additional 10% buyer fee on top of it.
TRIED TO UPLOAD PICS, BUT WOULDN'T LET ME. TRYING A SEPARATE POST.
