Default AEM Wideband sensor question

I have been having problems with my engine reving up after doing the 74mm tb swap. I want to check on my AFR and have an AEM Wideband kit lying around from an old project car. It says that it can emulate a narrowband sensor but I remember reading somewhere that someone had a problem with our cars accepting it. Does anyone know how to get this to work properly? I would rather do this than have to have my car brought to a shop to have a new bung welded in.
