crankshaft woodruff key
crankshaft woodruff key
I finally got around to installing my 181mm ec pulley kit only to find that when I took the stock pulley off that to my shock and horror the woodruff key was missing???!!!! I've found the part number from searching these forums but can't locate one to purchase. Does anyone know the measurements of the key so i can source one or have my machine shop at work fab one? Thanx.

Woodruff Key - Key Stock - Fasteners - Grainger Industrial Supply
This may help, but I don't know the size.

Re: crankshaft woodruff key
The "Woodruff Key" is not reuseable, any time a crankshaft pully is removed, a new key must be used. Do you have a Mercedes Benz dealer in your area, if you do, contact their parts department and they will supply you with the new key or advise you of the size. Good luck!

Re: crankshaft woodruff key
x2,,, i have used old , and new only if the old one was screwed up or lost for the last 55 years working on different cars,, i just looked I have a offset woofruff key, but for a different car jim
I haven't reused the crankshaft bolt, I've got a new bolt to go in with my new pulley just not a key. If we were meant to change the key every time we changed a pulley wouldn't we be supplied one with our pulley kits from eurocharged? I've kept searching for the part to no avail. Would really appreciate if someone knows where I can get one from
Re: crankshaft woodruff key
Then Repair Manual does not mention replacing the key either.
The key will be to the DIN standard (metric) and not the SAE standard (inch).
Re: crankshaft woodruff key
Did you have the keyway pointing up when removing the pulley ? I find it strange that it's missing, unless someone has been there before. I would pull the seal and check it hasn't been pushed out of the keyway, back towards the timing gear. as far as getting a new one, I would think a Benz dealer would be your best bet, unless you can find someone splitting a motor. Have you e-mailed Rob at needswings , or Mr Mopar to see if they can help ? Sorry I can't be of any more help........
