I had one of the older radios with the dim display & the dealer replaced it with a new one w/ the liquid crystal display. much nicer in the day but my problem is I can't see it at night unless the lights are on...at night the only light that is on is the ring around the volume ****. is this the norm?

 

At night you should have your lights on!

 

that's the norm if the radio is OFF. the volume **** (the one that's lit up) is the button that's used to turn the radio on, so if the radio is OFF, that's the only one you need to see.

 

Your right if the radio is off but what i'm saying is when i'm in the car at night like waiting for my kids to get off work in the parking lot and the radio is on the only light on is the volume **** no face light or button lights check yours at night if you have the newer radio let me know. thanx.

 

i'm sorry. i swapped out my head unit some time ago. are your headlights on when this happens?
