Help
Hey Guys,
I just spent $1000 on the new JVC in dash DVD / TV receiver, its and excellent unit but my sound quality has become absolutely %&%!!!, if you catch my drift. I had it professionally fitted and after it was installed i complained about the sound quality the response was that because the factory amp used a speaker out rather than an RCA the new JVC dec could not get the best sound from the speakers. Is there anything that i can do to improve this. Other than having to buy a new amp and have everything rewired?

Myself and several others here have used an amp pre-out for out new aftermarket stereos and it sounds great. So I'd go back and bit*h. It should take them 2 seconds to attach an RCA plug to the radio side harness and attach it to the stereos RCA.
Just one thing, when they use the RCA plug does that mean that both the front speaker and the sub will be controlled by the factory amp? i wonder if its possible to run the front speakers to the deck and then have the amp run the subs so that you can control them individually.

yes it does. the factory amplifier separates the signal. all it gets are LEFT and RIGHT audio inputs.
if i understand what you're asking, it would involve running wires from each individual speaker location back to the factory head unit. furthermore, it wouldn't work because you would need a headunit with 6 amplified channels. even if you ran the subs off the rear speaker outputs, you would need to filter out anything above 100-120Hz, which the head unit could not do (most likely).

i re-read it and think i misunderstood. you want to run the front speakers off the new headunit, and send the rear RCAs to the amp to run the subs? i guess that would work; what would you do about the tweeters?
Aren't the tweeters a slit system, so they basically run as part of front speakers, so they will run off the head unit? I think I'm just going get them to change the speaker input to RCA and just leave it at that. Thanks for the help, its greatly appreciated.

Yes - You need 2-way crossovers. You can go to a custom shop and purchase two passive crossover networks if they have any in stock, and run the front speakers from the radio.
If you can not find any local, IM me I have them in my store. Or contact Ben at his shop.

PS. The factory amp has the crossovers for the speakers built in the amp.
