Default Sat nav problem.

I have just installed the factory sat nav head unit.
I have bought a sat nav antenna and a set of Europe discs from E-Bay.
The unit works but the sat nav will not.
Is there anything I need to know to set it up?
I haven't got the manual for the sat nav.
When I select nav it tells me to insert the nav cd which I do but nothing happens.
Also I don't think the antenna is picking up the satellites.

Please help.

Thanks.

Norrie.

Does it tell you that you can't get to the Satellites? Anyone else with NAV, what happens when you are in your garage and you turn on NAV? Should say "cannot acquire satellite"... Does it work with the US CDs? Try the western/eastern CDs to see if it changes. Ooops, sorry, didn't see that you are in the UK... I assume you are in an open area un-covered by trees and buildings...best signal is there for at least troubleshooting purposes.

cudaman,

I had the same problem. If you PM blacklimitedcoupe he can send you the proper wiring instructions. The instructions from Chrysler are incorrect. I brought my car in six times, had the unit replaced three times and on the seventh time I brought in the instructions from blackilimitedcoupe and now it works like a charm. Hope this helps.

KJM -

I'm glad everything worked out for you... I know it's frustrating when the nav doesn't work correctly on a new car.

It doesn't seem to be finding the satellites.
When I select Nav on the unit it tells me to insert the nav disc which I do but nothing happens.
It still says insert nav disc.
blacklimitedcoupe I will PM you to get the wiring instructions.
I take it that it isn't a plug and play then?

Norrie.

Thinking of doing the same & fitting the oem sat nav set up.
Found this on a google search for crossfire mopar navigation unit.
Go to:
http://www.wyckoffchryslerparts.com/chcrsrnara.html
You'll see this: Install Instructions in PDF Format

Hope this helps...

Can you describe the nature of the error? Are the instructions from Wyckoff Chrysler correct?
