Default Right Door Speaker !!!

I just purchased my '04 XF coupe about a month ago and noticed that the door speaker on the passenger side is about half of what the driver side speaker carries even with the balance turned up all the way to the right and the volume set to what I think should be ear splitting ! The sound coming out of the speaker in question is clean with no rattles, but just not producing the sound it should. Any thoughts out there in XF land ?

Hey Stogey -
Did you ever get an answer to your right speaker not working properly? I have just picked up an '07 Roadster with exactly this problem - stock Infinity AM/FM/CD Player in it. I have sound primarily only from the driver's side speakers. I have reviewed the vehicle owner's manual, and made adjustments to the balance, but when set at 9 for the righht side I have minimal sound coming out with none on the left. Set at 8 I have some semblance of stereo but the volume has to be set very high to hear both sides.
How can I change the settings to get proper stereo at a reasonable volume setting?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hey aazn -
Thanks for the tip. I don't think the speaker is seizing ( I never heard of that) because I can get sound - it's just very quiet. So, how do I check the amp settings?
Thanks

under the passenger footwell apparently.

i dont own a crossfire so im not too sure.

under the passenger footwell, pull up the carpet, remove the foam, unbolt the metal plate and it should be there..

have a look at the gains of the amp (with some amps, left and right have their own gain adjustment)

will be worth having a look..

also have a look at the hi/low level imputs (AKA RCA's if it uses it, or just the wires going in)

ive had a problem before with a broken RCA and noticed that with only 1 RCA plugged in (right) the left speaker will still put out some sound (very little)

so either way.. have a look at your amp.

Howdy,

Do you figure out your problem? I wondered if one speaker has been replaced by a nonOEM or not 2ohms? A 4 ohm speaker would be getting approximately half the wattage of a 2ohm.

Just a thought

Hi -
I don't have it cured yet. Something else that I've noticed is that there is a sort of loud pop from the right speaker when I start the car, and I have a continuous low "brrrrr" type engine noise coming through the right speaker. If it's an amp correction, I don't know how it could have been changed.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

I'm going to be pulling my factory amp this weekend. i'll look and see if there are any adjustments to be made on it. I really don't think there are. I'm starting to think it's a bad factory amp. Now you have a decision to make, replace it with OEM or go after market. I'm told the Alpine PDX amps fit in the factory location so you can go that route and really get a good sound out of the system, probably want to replace all the speakers tho. Good luck!

A quick update - wifey tells me that the engine static comes through the speaker even if the radio is turned off. Sounds problematic.
Hey Zip - if you wouldn't mind - can you sen me the model number off of your amp when you have it apart? I'll look into some comparisons between factory and the Alpine.
Thanks
John

I pulled the carpet up and looked over the amp. I didn't see a model number right off. there is no way to adjust the amp at all. I'd say you have a bad amp.

I'm looking into bypassing the factory amp if I ever upgrade the speakers, if I do I'll sell it off to someone on the forum, if I think of it I'll contact you first.

Thanks Zip -
I had a look under mine, too, and didn't see anything. I've got an email in to the manufacturer on this a well, but they are slow to answer. I don't mind so much replacing the amp as long as I can verify it as the solution to the problem before I spend the money.
I'll wait a little longer for some other feedback and go from there.
Thanks for your efforts - this is a great forum.
John
