Infrared Sensor In Radio?

Default Infrared Sensor In Radio?
At the top center of the stock radio in my 05 ltd, there is a small reddish plastic section. Does anyone know what this is for? A infrared sensor or ???

I think it's there so you can just decypher whether it's the navigation unit or not.
