Default OEM head unit problems CD player

I am having minor problems with my CD player in my 2007 Limited Coupe non NAV. When I start the car the CD player makes a chattering noise sometimes for maybe 15 seconds. Will not eject CD sometimes. I get a "stop" message sometimes and the CD will not play. I had a local dealership replace my head under warranty and I still have the same problems. They come and go. The dealer said this is a $1147 head unit. I may change to an aftermarket head unit down the road but I would like to get this one fixed while under warranty. Has anyone else had similar issues?

Same issue here in my 07 base model. Just showed up a week ago.
Sounds like a mechanism hanging up inside. Seeing how i've had problems with this radio powering up, one of the preset buttons is hard to activate, and other electronic related problems... I'm going after market.

This radio is cheap crap.

Same issue here with a brand new unit. My old unit would not play when it was cold outside and the brand new one makes the "clicking" sound when it powers up! I guess I need to head back to the dealership for unit #3!!!

It seems unlikely that you'd get multiple bad head units. Are you sure it's not an electrical problem of some kind?

It is not the car. I have been installing Car Audio for 20 years. Wow I am getting old! The stereo is as cheaply made as the come. Made by Becker for Infinity. The clicking noise is the transport hanging as the disc begins to spin. The disc gets to correct speed and the transport clears. Take it back to the dealership and try again.

That blows. There's no way to fix it? I ask because I actually like the factory head unit. It sounds OK to me (I'm not an audiophile) and I haven't found anything that looks better in the dash.

I know what you mean. I am waiting and hoping that the Alpine marine ipod unit matches the dash. There is much debate on the forum about this units (the Alpine) release date and actual color. We will see....

Yeah...I think the next best option is to buy a silver-ish head unit and paint the bezel with some dupli-color silver DSGM340.

Yup, exact same problem here with the SRT. In fact, just got it replaced under warranty last week & the replacement unit is already clicking on home recorded CD's. I'm going to give it another week & then back to the dealer it goes.

Ah.... Perhaps the key operative phrase is "home created CD's"....?

Maybe not. Just a thought.

The head unit is definitely not an $1100 item... It's pretty but not that pretty...

Nope, happens with any circular piece of plastic I stick in there, doesn't matter if it's home-grown or store bought.
