I'm not to sure on this one. I know the base didn't have the amp or back "subwoofers".. but did they include tweeters? And are these tweeters and speakers in the door the same as the "premium" limited ones?

Reason why i'm asking is that I just had the opportunity to pick up a set of base speakers/tweeters for spare in case I ever blow mine again, and i'll be out of warranty in 200 miles.

 

You should be able to tell if the tweeters are installed (I'm assuming they are). Turn the treble all the way up, and bass all the way down - stick your ear close to the tweeter - any sound?

Yes, the base model has tweeters in the doors just as the limited models do.

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you if the four base model door speakers are the same as what comes in the limited. If I had to bet, I would say that the limited got better speakers than the base model. There was nothing premium sounding or premium looking of the speakers that I removed.

I kept my factory speakers if anyone has a photo of the limited speakers, I could do a comparison.

IMO, if you needed to replace your base model speakers, I would go with a good set of aftermarket component speakers. I installed a set of Polk speakers that were on sale at Crutchfield. The speaker install was easier since I also replaced the head unit and added an amp.

 

the speakers are not the same...and also limited have to addition "subs" behind the seats....both the limited and base models have component speakers in the doors, but not the same brand/part#.
