Default Radio Installation help

Im somewhat new to installing aftermarket radios so I followed one of the how to guides posted in this forum on replacing the dash unit.
After hooking everything up the dash unit powers up and everything seems to work but then no sound whatsoever comes out of the speakers.
What did I do wrong?

PS Overall this forum has been very helpful in helping me get to know my new crossfire

I think we need a little more info. What stereo did you put in? Did you remove the negative lead to the battery before installation? Did you have to wire in a new harness? Can you take a picture of your new stereo? There are so many people that can help you with this problem - this is a great forum.

I have the same issue, so I could use some help also.

I'm installing a Kenwood 942, and bought the proper harness. I connected the same color speaker wires to each other (grey to grey, white to white). I've got power to the new unit but no sound whatsoever. If I disconnect the new unit and plug my factory unit in I have sound again??

The new head unit is set to send sound to all speakers, so I'm not sure what's going on either. I've installed a few stereos over the years and not run into this issue.

Maybe a security thing with my Kenwood??

not if you want it to sound decent there isn't. FM modulators suck.

Yep, you need to wire up the blue (sometimes blue/white) remote turn on wire to the (pink) wire from the harness.. sometimes called the amp turn on wire..
